Discovering that it’s very challenging to reflect on things when there’s no time to reflect on things. So far at CIRPA09 at Banff Centre today have heard a very engaging talk on the Burgess Shale (not at all related to Institutional Research but local interest and stimulating) and sat in on a session on Accountability, Autonomy and Outcomes: Who decides what we measure and what do we do with it? Discussion of the “black box” of the classroom, amount of time and energy spent on accountability, less on what we do with the outcomes.
excellent reception–talked to folks from Royal Roads, UVic, Assiniboine, Douglas College and UBC. Two of them are speaking tomorrow on sustainability on campus. Unfortunate I didn’t make it for Michael Adams’s (president of Environics) keynote address http://www.cirpa-acpri.ca/bc2009/adams.htm
